University of Cambridge: Secondary Education and Social Change in the UK since 1945: School Resource Packs

Professor Peter Mandler  and Dr Chris Jeppesen discuss how they worked directly with four secondary school History teachers to produce KS3 resource packs based upon their research which uses secondary education as a lens onto wider processes of social and cultural change after 1945. Each pack, freely available through the HA, focus on the central question: In what ways do schools reflect change in the United Kingdom since 1945? approached from a different thematic angle: class and social mobility, race, gender and sexuality, everyday school life. In the recorded interview, Peter and Chris highlight the importance of HEI historians reaching out to build relationships and collaborate with school history teachers which can lead to long-term benefits for all.
