Charlie Crouch (National Archives)  and Will Bailey-Watson (Reading) discuss a collaborative project aimed at bringing together history PhD students to work collaboratively with student history teachers, at the end of their PGCE programme, to help contextualise their own research, experiences, and fledgling expertise in relation to broader topics and issues. They highlight that both PhD and PGCE students valued the shared experience and the shared endeavour, and both sides regularly suggested ideas for future collaboration. Furthermore, both PhD and PGCE students have been helped to identify the importance of providing space for each to think about and develop their own experiences and areas of expertise.
