1745–1900

The period 1745-1900 provides the backdrop for a study of changing ideas, political power, empire, trade and industry in Britain. Topics studied could include (among others) the Enlightenment, scientific and technological ideas and advances, the Industrial Revolution, Trade and trans-Atlantic slavery plus its effects, abolition and legacy, campaigns and agitation for political reform and the extension of the franchise in Britain and in other countries, revolutions such as those in France and America and relations between Britain and Ireland and the campaign for home rule.

In this section you'll find home-learning resources to support a study of this period. We'll add further resources as they are submitted.
