Teaching History: Issue 194 (March 2024, Climate and environment)
Explores how history education can help students understand and respond to the climate crisis by integrating environmental perspectives into existing topics, such as humanity’s relationship with nature and the roots of climate change.

Teaching History: Issue 171 (June 2018, Knowledge)
Shows how thoughtful debates about both the content (‘what knowledge?’) and pedagogy (‘how to teach it?’), and have led the way in integrating substantive and disciplinary knowledge to build rich, meaningful historical understanding in the classroom.

Adaptable lesson sequences

Exclusive for corporate members
Producing well-crafted sequences of lessons can be a challenge. Access free lesson sequences produced as part of Teacher Fellowship programmes, but corporate members can also fully resourced sequences linked to lessons that have been featured in Teaching History.

Lesson sequence: Twentieth-century Europe
The first lesson from each sequence is free to access (see links below) or you can access this full taster sequence on twentieth-century Europe. This enquiry helps Key Stage 3 students understand the historical context of the European Union and Britain’s relationship with it, exploring themes of post-war cooperation, political stability, and division and unity in Europe.

Building subject knowledge, connecting with scholarship

Film series

Members gain access to all our interpretations film series, providing the latest scholarship and subject updates from expert contributors. Series covered to date include power and authority in Germany 1871-1991, the African American Civil Rights Movement, Russian leaders in the twentieth century, Tudor royal authority. This year sees the launch of our major new series on Power and freedom in Britain and Ireland: 1714-2010.
