Angel's Teeth

The book Angel’s Teeth was very interesting to read. The best part about the book in my opinion was that it was set in WWII, which is a topic I enjoy learning about. The most interesting character I found was the kind soldier, this is because he gave the doll back to Ruth’s father, which showed he was caring. The character I did not like was the other solider because he threw the urns in the river. The plot was serious, upsetting and warm-hearted all at once. This is because the father tried his best to keep his daughter and wife happy, but it was upsetting and serious because it was set in a deadly concentration camp. I did indeed learn some German whilst reading the book. Overall, I found the book very good and would recommend it to other people.
Review by Hester, Year 6, St Cecilia’s Primary School
This book is about a girl called Ruth and her family during World War 2. I love that the author included lots of details about the holocaust, and photographs of the real Ruth Matejovska, who survived. I found the angel a very interesting character. It gave Rugh hope in a time of despair. The ending of the story leaves many questions as to where it is now. The plot of this story is very clever and well thought out, but also very emotional. I enjoyed it, especially when Eva is returned and when they celebrate Channukah together. Although very short, this book is very heartfelt and is based off real life events. I think this book should be read by Year 6+ because of the vocabulary and plot. In my opinion, this book is very good, yet also very sad. I liked how your emotions change throughout the story. 5 stars!
